Our Mission

In a changing world, SOTA prepares students to be creative trailblazers in the Arts and in their careers.

Are you a student artist who wants to study in all the areas of theatre, music and visual arts? Are you a future game designer who wants to incorporate graphic design into the look of your computer animation, or theatre for the character and plot building, or music to create the soundtrack? Maybe you're an advertiser, and you need graphic design skills for a layout?

The School of the Arts offers cross-pollinating degrees. We are your canvas. We are your stage. We are your school.

SOTA is the creative engine of ²Ø¾«¸ó

The School of the Arts combines Art & Design, Music, and Theatre & Dance to bring unparalleled artistic opportunities to current and future students. Our majors learn how to be professional artists of many types, leaving ²Ø¾«¸ó prepared to practice their craft across the region, the country, and the world. Our minors come from every college on campus from Nursing to Mathematics, Political Science to Construction Management. SOTA's Prep programs, including the nationally recognized String Project, engage 900 students from children to adults annually.

Director's Welcome

Through quality interdisciplinary education, scholarship, and civic engagement, ²Ø¾«¸ó’s School of the Arts provides high-quality education for students interested in developing creatively. SOTA encourages serious humanistic inquiry that is not easily achieved within traditional disciplinary boundaries, heightens the visibility of the arts at ²Ø¾«¸ó, and provides the general public with an awareness of the central role of the arts in the quality of human life. In addition to advancing their creative skills through small class sizes with innovative curriculum and award-winning instructors, students develop expertise in the qualities most in-demand for today’s changing career landscape. In concert with ²Ø¾«¸ó’s comprehensive liberal arts education, SOTA offers 12 degrees with 30 specializations in addition to 7 minors, to develop graduates that are personally engaged, innovative, and curious with developed skillsets in collaboration and creative risk-taking.
